The restoration industry has seen significant technological advancements over the years. Our technicians here at SERVPRO have taken full advantage of these advancements through the utilization of the various advanced technologies. In today's blog, we will cover three of our team's favorite advanced technologies that are used to facilitate moisture detection, drying, and sanitation. Read more to learn about infrared cameras, air movers and dehumidifiers, and OSHA-approved cleaning agents!
How do we detect moisture?
Infrared Cameras!
In the event of a water emergency, the first step is to detect water damage, measure the extent of the water damage, and monitor the moisture levels in the affected area(s). Water damage investigation has come a long way! We used advanced technologies, such as infrared cameras, to help expedite the process of detecting water damage. By speeding this up, we can save you from secondary water damage by identifying the location of moisture that is often unseen by the naked eye. Infrared cameras are used to scan locations of moisture inside of flooring, ceilings, and walls that must be extracted to prevent secondary water damage and microbial growth. We don't stop at infrared cameras though! We use hygrometers and sensitive motor detectors that help us measure the saturation level of the moisture.
What do we use for drying?
Air Movers and Dehumidifiers!
After water damage has been identified, it is essential to extract the water immediately! Once any standing water has been extracted, affected area(s) must be thoroughly dried in order to prevent secondary damage and mold. Our technicians facilitate this process by using air movers and dehumidifiers during a water damage emergency. Air movers work to quickly evaporate moisture and dehumidifiers extract water vapor lingering in the air. When used in tandem, our industrial strength air movers and powerful dehumidifiers can protect your property's flooring, walls, and furniture from warping and swelling.
How do we sanitize?
OSHA-Approved Cleaning Agents!
Once the affected areas have been extracted of water and dried completely, the water damaged areas should be cleaned and sanitized. This sanitization process completely eliminates odors and contaminants that could lead to issues in the future. Here at SERVPRO we utilize two different types of cleaning agents: disinfectants and deodorizers. Our disinfection cleaning agents work to prevent the growth of dangerous microbials including mildew, fungi, and other types of bacteria. With the help of our deodorization agents, odors that result from excess moisture are eradicated!
